Michigan 2010 Roundup

Michigan's Lake Huron Coast
Where to eat in Ann Arbor, driving along Lake Huron in the rain, and stopping at (almost) every lighthouse in our path.

Mackinac Island
An adorable little island... and its not-so-sweet side?

UP We Go
Starting across the Upper Peninsula - shipwreck museums, waterfalls, and the coldest I've ever been in summer.

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore
A "three hour" boat "tour" along stunning Pictured Rocks and giant sand dunes.

The Keweenaw Peninsula
Copper Mining, German culinary heritage, and spending the night in a lighthouse.

Isle Royale
One of America's least visited national parks, done the comfy way.

Brockway Mountain Drive
Jam-making monks, scenic mountain drives, existential crises, and a cemetery in the woods.

Traverse City - Cherry and Wine Country
It's hard to go wrong with food, wine, and soccer.

Sleeping Bear Dunes
One of America's scenic national treasures.

15 Michigan Lighthouses in 14 Days
What it says on the label. Lots of lighthouses.

Things I brought home:

For once, I took a picture of all the things I bought while on vacation. Road trips are great for souvenirs, as you don't have to worry about hauling them back in your suitcase, or buying few enough bottles to squeak through customs (more on this in a later post).
