El Charco del Ingenio

Charco del Ingenio is San Miguel de Allende's botanical garden and ecological preserve. It's a bit outside town - I'd advise taking a taxi or Uber. The park specializes in local flora and fauna (so, cacti and birds), has a lake and a canyon, and covers about 217 acres. If you do the full loop and attempt to get back to the gate you originally came in instead of leaving by the 'EXIT', signage gets a little iffy. I thought we were going to be lost in the wilderness for-ev-er. (My phone didn't have a signal to order an Uber, so we needed to get back to the ticket desk to ask them to call for a taxi.) Despite this, it's worth checking out - just bring plenty of water!
